Programs Used
Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop
This page is full of mini projects I've done to practice animation and motion graphics. I've begun to apply the principles and methods I've picked up in my regular projects, but I wanted to make sure I had this dedicated gallery to show as I keep making more of these.
Flight
A magical insect taking flight up and out. I used this to practice making vector animation from a frame by frame drawing.
Noodling
As the title states, it's a noodle...or is it? I wanted to try editing frame animation in After Effects. I drew the original noodle in Flip-A-Clip, and exported it to add text, color, and effects in After Effects.
Rotating Head/Frame Animation
This was done to practice keeping the form of a moving/rotating character/character elements consistent. Then I explored how to add more movement to the frame animation in After Effects.
Words of Encouragement
This is a short video where I explored making my own word transitions in After Effects. The voice over is my own. In this I focused on learning how to use the graph editor more efficiently, as well as played around with effects. I wanted it to be a motivational for myself; a reminder to stop overthinking and focus.
Dream Icecream Logo Pop-in/Assets
These animations/Illustrations were made for an older branded project I did, that I am currently in the process of remaking. Despite the fact that that project is no longer on my site, I wanted to showcase these specific elements from it, as I still appreciate the time it took to make them.
Circles
After Effects play with circles. I wanted to make something with a more rapid speed flow to it.
Perseverance
An illustration I made using Photoshop and Illustrator, which I exported into After Effects to add some text and shape movement to. This was done as a personal project, to practice a brighter and bolder illustration style.
Personal Logo Animation (OLD)
I decided to take my older logo and make an animation of it for a hypothetical video opener. For this design specifically, I wanted to explore glow and metallic effects in After Effects. The process of making this was less of sketching a lot, and more of trial and error trying to get the animation to act exactly how I wanted it to.
Look Up (First Motion Attempt)
wanted to create an intimate night time scene of a young girl exploring nature. Look Up was done as I reflected on my past growing up and being absolutely taken aback by the fireflies that glow during the summer evenings and nights. So, I decided to create a vector drawing in Illustrator based on a sketch I made, which I exported to After Effects to add movement to the fireflies. It's supposed to be calming, and wonder filled.
This was my first time exploring motion graphics/animation in After Effects, and I was happy with this start to a new medium.
Sliding
This is a quick video I made to practice masking in AfterEffects. I wanted to practice masking images within shape layers, and utilizing the blur effect more.
